Becoming a Pioneer Woman

Since I have been home this summer I have been working on several different projects, but one ongoing project is to find recipes that are fun and easy to cook. I don't mind cooking when I don't feel that it is a chore, so finding stuff that I enjoy to cook is a must. I have been reading the pioneer woman's website/blog and have found several things that I love on it! You must check it out http://thepioneerwoman.com/ . I find everything that she does to be so interesting and fun. I secretly wish I could be the pioneer woman. I would love to live out on some land, pick my own veggies, do crafts and activities with my kids, and cook and spend time with my "Marlboro Man". Anyways, back to cooking, one recipe that I tried was making homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch. I used the pioneer woman's recipe, and it was delicious. My favorite thing about her website is that her recipes have step by step pictures of how each step of the process goes. Take a look: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/cinammon_rolls_/.

Here are how mine turned out:

Tonight I am going to try her chicken strips and green beans. Wish me luck!

Missing Andrew

Andrew has been gone to the Dominican since last Tuesday as a sponsor on our church's youth group mission trip. Because they are working in a very rural area, and the cell phone coverage isn't good I have only received a few text messages from him when they go in to town. I have never gone this long in our entire relationship without having some sort of conversation with him. It has been very weird not being able to talk to him.
I have been trying to keep myself busy while he is gone so that time will go by fast. I went to Abilene for a few days to visit my parents. My mom had a hip replacement 3 weeks ago so she couldn't leave the house so we stayed at home the whole time and made stuff for baby Luke. My mom is great at sewing (when I was little she made lot of clothes for me). We spend our time making burp rags, blankets, etc. Luke is going to have more baby stuff than he can ever need.
After I went to Abilene, I came back to Grapevine for a day and then I headed out to the lake for the weekend with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew and a few of their friends. We hung out, watched golf, played 42, but mostly spent our time out on the boat. Since I can't wakeboard, ski, tube, etc. this summer I have been enjoying working on my tan and watching others do all of those things. Yesterday my 1 1/2 year old nephew, Brazos, got out on a tube (with his dad of course). He had so much fun and looked so cute doing it. Now I am back home hanging out and getting the house in order. All this said, I have had fun while Andrew has been gone, but I am very much ready for him to be home! I am ready to see this face again!

It's a boy!

Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, we are having a baby. Yesterday we had the great opportunity to find out what we are having. It is no surprise to our family that it is a boy, because Andrew is 1 of 4 brothers, and we only have nephews, so the Harmon's are good at making boys. Our little one, Luke Walling Harmon, should be here on Oct. 27th.

Let's Try This Again

Some of you may know that I tried to start blogging last summer, and that didn't go so well. I only managed to get a few posts in before my life consumed me and I never got around to blogging, but this time my situation is different and I am determined to post frequently. This blog isn't about anything in particular, just everyday things that our family is doing. Most of the posts will be from me, but who knows, maybe even Andrew will make a post or two?! I will apologize in advance for any grammatical errors that I may make; I tend to get ahead of myself and then forget to go back and correct. Now that school is out, and the fact that I am staying home next year will give me plenty of time to keep this blog going. I know our life may not be that exciting, but for those of you who care I hope you find enjoyment, humor and entertainment in reading about our lives.
